That's right the lovable sponge that keeps kids and adults laughing has grown into a $8 billion/year franchise for Nickelodeon's parent company Viacom. To put that figure in perspective Spongebob accounts for approximately two-thirds of Viacom's annual revenue while BET, MTV, Paramount Studios and many others make up the rest of the annual revenue. It's pretty easy to see why the franchise is such a valuable asset to the company.

Apart from single-handedly keeping Viacom financially healthy Spongebob is also about to celebrate another landmark achievement, it's 10th anniversary. With an exciting line-up of events and partnerships to help commemorate the event that yearly revenue figure is sure to keep growing. Not sure how much everyone out there knows about Ironman 2 or my good friend Mickey Rourke (lol), but it's confirmed that Tony Stark’s nemesis in the sequel will be none other than Whiplash. Whiplash is one of Ironman’s original foes and keeping with the theme of this post, here is some info you might find interesting concerning Mickey Rourke’s latest character.

Whiplash first appeared in Marvel comics in 1968 and was created by Stan Lee and Gene Colan.

His real name is Mark Scarlotti.

Scarlotti, like Tony Stark, is a genius level weapon developer.

Scarlotti worked for the crime organization named Maggia.

While working for Maggia, Scarlotti took an assignment to go undercover and work for Stark Industries to steal intelligence and eventually take down Tony Stark.

During his time as a weapons developer, Scarlotti developed duo cybernetically controlled titanium whips that he uses to deflect bullets, smash his opponents and vault his body over obstacles.

Once the whips were developed, Scarlotti became Whiplash and attacked Tony Stark.

Whiplash is defeated at the hands of Ironman and his body is returned to Maggia.

Whiplash, embarrassed, is kicked out of Maggia and changes his name to Backlash.

Backlash blames Tony Stark and Ironman for his demise and vowed revenge.

Iron Man 2 is set to be released on April 30th 2010 and will be one of a series of super hero films (including Thor and Captain America) that will eventually set up the Avengers movie which will be released in 2011.

Living in a time where over-population and limited farmland have become a very serious concern, scientists around the world have been designing blueprints for revolutionary farms to try and resolve this sticky situation. Since lack of natural space is the obvious problem scientists have been creating concept ideas called “vertical farms”. So instead of using more land space scientists have been thinking of using air space. To the uneducated in this field (me) this seems like a flawless idea; build a building full of farms simple, right?

Wrong, many scientists have doubts about this idea of “vertical farming,” explaining that this is much more complicated and complex than the average person looking in may think. A persisting problem seems to be how to stack the farms or greenhouses in a unique way that natural sun light is shared evenly throughout the layer of crops and then of course many doubters believe that this idea is simply just too expensive.

We can only hope that scientists can discover an idea which works efficiently, environmentally friendly, and isn’t so expensive so it’s affordable worldwide. If one day these concepts are turned into reality they can be built in food scarce countries around the world and especially in African countries where usable land for farming is rare due to desertification.

Here are some visuals followed by a short description of the concept ideas for the “vertical farms” which I found from news.nationalgeographic.com:

Gordon Graff at the University of Waterloo in Ontario thinks his 59-story Skyfarm concept clears what some critics deem an insurmountable hurdle to vertical farms--generating enough electricity to replicate the sun's output at a reasonable cost.

Although the hydroponic farm would consume an estimated 82 million kilowatt hours a year, according to the Toronto Star, an onsite biogas plant burning methane from farm waste would provide about 50 percent of that energy. The rest of the needed fuel could come from city waste.

Conitune reading for more concept designs for "vertical farming"...

Architect Chris Jacobs collaborated with Columbia University's Dickson Despommier to create one of the first vertical farm designs. Reminiscent of the Capitol Records building in Los Angeles, the concept above includes a giant rooftop solar panel that moves with the sun to capture full light.

The building's windows are treated with a chemical that blocks pollutants and prevents water from beading, which maximizes the light getting in to help crops grow, according to New York magazine.

"A vertical farm has to be adapted for a specific place," Augustin Rosenstiehl of Atelier SOA Architects in Paris told the New York Times in July 2008. For example, it would be a waste to build a vertical farm in the city only for growing wheat if the grain grows particularly well in the surrounding countryside.

Rosenstiehl has therefore drawn up several concepts for growing different foods in urban environments, including the one above outfitted with rooftop wind turbines to generate electricity.

New York-based Architect Blake Kurasek designed the Living Skyscraper while he was a graduate student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The concept places urban farms on the outer fringes of residential apartments.

Some floors are enclosed for year-round production of greenhouse crops, while others include terraces for seasonal items such as orchards. The ground floor would contain a farmers' market where residents could sell to one another and the general public.

The Eco-Laboratory, created by Seattle, Washington-based architectural firm Weber Thompson, is a 12-story high-rise complex that would mix residences with gardens that produce food for the local neighborhood.

The firm estimates that sales of tomatoes and lettuces grown in the high-rise's hydroponic gardens could total about a million U.S. dollars a year, based on revenue minus the base production costs.

The economic feasibility of the design makes a real version plausible within a few years, the team notes.

Knowing that different types of plants have different growth requirements, Oliver Foster of Queensland University of Technology designed the Vertical Farm-Type O concept.

Heavy orchards grow atop carparks (foreground), which are linked to the main vertical farm via a skybridge. The bridge is encased in a skeletal-like structure for growing vines and for connecting services such as electricity.

Reflective surfaces inside the 12-story building bounce sunlight to the back of the growing space.

The Seawater Vertical Farm concept by Italian architects Cristiana Favretto and Antonio Girardi attempts to address increased demand for irrigation in an era of dwindling freshwater sources.

The pair's solution uses seawater to cool and humidify greenhouses. Some of the water vapor in the air is then converted into freshwater to irrigate the crops, the team explains on the Web site www.studiomobile.com.

The concept is set in Dubai, where both freshwater and local veggies are scarce.

The Pyramid Farm, designed by vertical farming guru Dickson Despommier at New York's Columbia University and Eric Ellingsen of the Illinois Institute of Technology, is one way to address the needs of a swelling population on a planet with finite farmland.

Design teams around the world have been rolling out concepts for futuristic skyscrapers that house farms instead of--or in addition to--people as a means of feeding city dwellers with locally-grown crops.

In addition to growing fruits and vegetables, the Pyramid Farm includes a heating and pressurization system that converts sewage into water and carbon to fuel machinery and lighting, according to Inhabitat.com

Raptors Center Andrea Bargnani signed a 5 Year Contract Extension worth $50 million which means he will be receiving $10 million a year. Last season, Andrea Bargnani averaged averaged career highs of 15.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.24 blocked a game.

In other news...

Toronto Raptors sent Shawn Marion to the Dallas Mavericks in a sign-and-trade deal. Shawn Marion will be receiving $40 million for 5 years. In return the Raptors will receive $3 million dollars in salary cap which is the maximum amount.

I honestly like the extension we gave Bargnani and also like the fact that we got rid of Shawn Marion and received some money for him. This money will give us a chance to pick up more free agents this off season. Now I'm just waiting for Bryan Colangelo to official sign Hedo Turkoglu.

So it's day 16 and it doesn't seem like they are making any progress with this garbage strike. Our city is getting smellier and smellier everyday. I refuse to go downtown because of the state it is in right now. Just leaving my house to go outside to get some fresh air and knowing I'm going to be inhaling the smell of garbage disgusts me. We've just recently beat our record with 16 straight days of this strike since back in 2002, when I heard that on the news I was thinking in my head this news reporter can't be serious, she was saying it like it was something to glorify and be proud of. Now I'm hearing that our great Mayor is telling us to put our garbage on sidewalks so that civic workers will be forced to go back to work, how bout giving them what they want so stuff like this won't happen. The fact that I'm hearing civic workers aren't even complaining about pay makes this situation even worse. I just heard that Centerville has been closed by the city and that Caribana might be a no go this summer. If they cancel Caribana I hope the city will be prepared for a mini Watts type riot (search L.A. riots if you don't know what I'm talking about). David Miller better think twice about canceling Caribana, he better think about how much money the city will lose from tourists that weekend, I doubt he realizes the bad reputation that Toronto is getting at the moment. A friend had told me yesterday that American's are being told not to come to our city because of this garbage strike. This strike is supposedly going to last til September, I would hate to see how this city is going to look in 2 months.

I know i'm a couple days late but...it was reported that Married man, former Baltimore Raven Quarterback Steve McNair was found dead in his condo on July 4th. Reports also say that Sahel Kazemi, a girl he was dating was also found dead in the condo. He suffered 2 gunshot wounds to the chest and 2 to the head. Sahel suffered 1 gunshot wound to the side of her head with the pistol found used to kill both of them under her body.

Now lets do a little Special Investigating but let's not beat around the bush and cut straight to the chase. I don't want to jump to conclusions but it seems to me that this girl that he was dating could of either killed him than herself? Or maybe Steve's wife found out he was messing around with this girl and she killed them both? There's also a possibility (but i highly doubt it) that Steve was involved in something and a someone killed him and the girl he was dating?

At the end of the day
we need to stay faithful to our woman or else...

This past week saw us as Canadians celebrate yet another Canada Day in this great country we are all privileged to be living in. In recent years a considerable amount of that prosperity can be attributed to our leadership's foresight in embracing and incorporating the many aspects of the free-market capitalism ideal in our everyday lives. Although there are many viewpoints pointing to the shortfalls of capitalism, a lot can also be said in its defense. The prominence of private corporations in capitalistic societies make them an easy target for harsh criticism, in fact one of the most highly regarded documentaries against the corporate culture also happens to be one of my favourite. Despite the fact the documentary The Corporation sits on the complete other side of the spectrum I agree with, I still believe it is a very well thought out and powerful documentary. The individuals who are responsible for this documentary who coincidentally are Canadian very cleverly relate a number of corporation characteristics to that of a psychotic patient, the end diagnosis is pretty predictable. That being said there are a lot of more positive things that can be said about the power that free-market capitalism gives corporations that this documentary does not really focus on, in the near future I will share some other material that provides different arguments and allow you to make your own choice. With no modeling history or even pageant history, she auditioned for the Ms World Canada Pageant and out of 30 girls she was selected to be one of the finalists. I'm pretty sure you all know what happened next, If you guessed that she won the event that's exactly what she did. with no experience in the modeling or pageant category you would only wonder how someone with such inexperience could win,it's very simple...talent. With all Sara's talent she didn't stop there. Not only can she model and become Ms. Canada she can also sing. Sara has a voice that can light up any room and turn your bad day into a wonderful one. She's a very hard working person and very dedicated to the things she loves.

Get use to hearing her name a lot in the future because with her hard working ability, she will only get better at what she does. Hard work is always noticed and is something that always pays off in the future.

I'm glad to have met someone with such talent and strive to do something that they love the most. So support someone who is doing something great for themselves and great for our City. I think that we are getting better at supporting people who doing positive things for themselves and in our city, I hope this continues to happen and never stops.

Canada Helps Out The Poor or Feels a Litte Guilty

One of the world's poorest countries is getting a break on its debt payments.
Canada has forgiven Haiti's $2.3-million debt. It's part of the federal government's plan to relieve impoverished and heavily indebted countries of their debts to Canada. Canada has now cancelled a total of $965 million worth of debt owed by poor countries - including all debt owed by Latin American and Caribbean nations.

Finance Minister Jim Flaherty made the announcement from Chile, where he is attending meetings of the Inter-American Development Bank governors and finance ministers of Latin America and the Caribbean. Flaherty says the debt relief will let Haiti spend its scarce resources on priorities instead of its liabilities.

My Personal Thought:

Even though 2.3 million dollars might not sound like a lot on the global stage but I'm pretty sure it means a lot to a very poor country like Haiti. Personally it’s good to know that my country is doing something to financially help these poverty stricken countries (especially during this global recession). These third world countries are obviously struggling to provide suitable living conditions for their people and clearing there debt will help them focus on getting more resources to tend to the needs of these people. I trust everybody else agrees with me when I say it is definitely a step in the right direction and hopefully the rest of the world’s leading nations take notice to this and follow in our countries footsteps.

She was my angel...

Today is Valentine’s Day, my mi amour and I have a special day planned. This morning I woke up at 10 am sharp in anticipation for my love; I took a shower, brushed my teeth, and ironed out my clothes. Once I was done changing I headed down to her favourite breakfast joint and waited anxiously for her arrival...

Oh man I’m so excited for today, I have been anticipating this for a while now. Everything is perfect; I’m dressed in her favourite colours equipped with a box of her favourite chocolates and a fresh bouquet of her favourite flowers. Everything is going to be perfect all I got to do now is just wait a little bit and she should be walking through the door anytime now.

Where the hell is she? I have been waiting at this restaurant for almost two hours now. Maybe she couldn’t sleep last night after I left her house so she decided to sleep in, or maybe she got called into work unexpectedly, or maybe she’s stuck on a long distance phone call, yea that’s it she got held up on an important phone call that’s all. Shut up stop talking shit, you’re just jealous, watch she’ll come.

Fuck man this is bullshit! I have been sitting in this fucking seat for three straight hours, the waitresses are staring at me weird, like I’m some creep who has no life, like some loser that got stood up on Valentines’ Day. Oh man I just had a horrible thought, what if she’s out with another guy or shit maybe she decided to avoid me on purpose since I did tell her to meet me here today in the letter. I told you that letter was a bad idea; this is your entire fault.

She’s a fucking no show. My plans are ruined, my plans in which we took so long to come up with. That bitch, that fucking whore, I bet she’s out eating breakfast with some other guy. With some other guy who’s tall, dark, and handsome. That bitch how dare she give me all the obvious signs that she wants me than just leave me here alone on Valentine’s Day. What a bitch she stood me up, you happy now? She stood me up. Man I know she read my letter, fuck we watched her open it and read it from the really clean window to the one outside her room, so there’s no mistaking that. There must be something wrong because I know she loves me just as much as I love her, for crying out loud she held the public bus for me just four days ago and said hello with that smile she does. That smile she puts on, it’s just for me I never seen her smile at anyone else like that before, yup just me. So I know she loves me and you can’t deny that, you know I’m right. I know she cares for me, she has too. I have been following her for months now and I will never forget the first time I saw her; it was like God had sent an angel down specifically for me. But then why would she stand me up. I told her in the letter I would be here today, what could have possibly gone wrong. She better not be with another guy for real because I understand her better than any other guy ever will. I know the real colour of her eyes, I know who her favourite author is, what’s her favourite television show, how much moles she has on her back, and even that her left breast is one size larger than her right. I am her soul mate and she is my angel. Something must have just gone wrong that’s all.

Huh? You think we should drive around town and search all her regular spots? You know what that doesn’t sound like a bad idea, comforting to know I’m not in this alone. Yea I agree we should start the search at her house.

You think shes home? Hey fuck you I’m not a loser, you know I hate having to creep around her house but I have to stay close to my love because I know she feels my presence when I’m near. Shut up you have no idea what I’m going through you have never loved before your heart is filled with hate and so much anger, you’re just jealous as usual. But fuck I have checked through every window now and there’s still no sign of her. What should I do?

Oh brilliant instead of wasting gas by driving around town looking for her, waiting here for her until she arrives home will be way easier. Plus you have no plans anyways you just follow me where ever I go, you’re the real loser.

Yea I know the stars are bright out tonight eh? Oh hush look a car is pulling up to the drive way and look there she is but who the fuck is that guy she’s with and why is she letting him inside her house. Maybe it’s just her brother; it does look like the guy that’s in all her family photos.

You know what I’m breaking in, no I’m not crazy or stupid but I need to get closer, I’m just going to hide in the closet in her bedroom, we both know she never goes in there before she falls asleep. Shut up you have no choice but to follow me inside and stop whining you bitch I’m not going to get us caught relax.

Ok this spot is good she won’t find me here and I’ll be able to leave as soon as she falls asleep, Ok? Oh my God being in her room is better than I expected, the sweet aroma from her dirty laundry has given me the hardest erection I have ever experienced I just want to tear her clothes off her body and let her feel how much I love her. I can’t wait for her to come into the room and I can watch her sleep from just a few feet away, no more looking out the window.

Oh look, look she’s entering the room, be fucking quiet don’t make a sound. Wait, what the fuck? Why is her brother sleeping in the same bed with her, this is fucking messed up there’s something wrong here. Fuck there having sex, this is not what is suppose to happen. I should to be the one fucking her tonight not this loser. That fucking whore, I should have listened to you, you were right this whole time. That bitch she ditched me for this loser. How dare she just play with my emotions like this, this bitch needs to learn a lesson, she needs to be punished... Punished the only way you know how too.

Yea, I’m going to need your help with this one but just make it quick last time they almost found out it was us...

TTC and Go Transit are running on a holiday schedule

Most downtown retailers in the Downtown Yonge Street area (from Richmond Street north to Grosvenor, and from Bay just east of Yonge) will be open, including the Eaton Centre, which will be open from 10am to 6pm.

While most shopping malls are closed, Vaughan Mills Shopping Centre will be open from 10am to 7pm, as well as the Pacific Mall at 4300 Steeles Ave. E. in Markham.

Loblaws, Sobeys and Wal-Mart and Metro stores will be closed for the holiday in Toronto and the GTA, but some Sobeys stores in cottage country will be open. All Rabba stores continue to be open 24/7.

And even though it will be a rainy Canada Day, if you're inclined to do some gardening, Home Depot Garden Centres throughout most of the GTA will remain open from 8am-5pm, but the stores themselves will be shut down.

July 1 Fireworks and Events

The strike means no fireworks at Ashbridges Bay. But plenty of other places will be having a blast to celebrate Canada's birthday.

To be completely real, I know when I was a teen I would of hated the idea of uniformed police walking around the halls of my high school. I guess growing up I never grew to trust in the Toronto Police system, to this very day even when I’m completely innocent I feel unease and uncomfortable when I know police are around me. It’s funny that the people that make me feel uncomfortable are the ones hired to serve and protect. My uneasiness around the boys in blue throughout my life is probably due to a few reasons that I can think off the top of my head;

- Growing up my peers, rap songs, and many different movies depicted police as being crooked, not trust worthy, or racist.
- Throughout my adolescence to ‘’like’’ the police was never socially acceptable and you would probably be labelled a snitch.
- Personal encounters with the Toronto police during my adolescence definitely had a big influence on my views towards them, more negative than positive which only supported the belief that police were assholes.
- In high school most police I encountered or seen were Caucasian and for some reason or another I felt as if most of them didn’t like dealing with black youths.
- And one specific situation comes to thought; in my third year of high school a friend of mine was wrongfully shot and killed by a Toronto police officer, it always weighed on my mind.

Now that I have grown up a bit I have definitely had much more positive encounters with the Toronto Police, don’t get me wrong I still believe that many officers get corrupted through job experiences and take advantage of the power given to them but I must say I have met many good and reliable police officers. I believe that inserting uniformed officers in Toronto high schools will definitely decrease the level of violence and crimes within the schools. But I think that these officers that are being placed within the high school environment should be specially trained to deal with teens and young adults; they should be equipped with a unique sense of understanding and dealing with high schools students. Their goal should not only be to prevent violence and crime or to even protect but they should focus on growing relationships with students especially the ones that tend to cause more trouble than good. I thinki it's important for police to learn to understand today's youth and the youth need to learn to understand today's police. This will help demolish negative sterotypes and help mend a bad relationship between police and the cities youth.

Now thinking about it maybe if my high school had officers inserted within the educational environment and I was able to grow to know the people behind the uniform maybe I wouldn’t be so uncomfortable and unease around them today.

Several funnel clouds were spotted today in areas east of Toronto. No funnels clouds actually touched down but what the hell is going on?

Only in the past couple summers now that funnel clouds have been appearing in the skies around the city, because I definitely don't remember any Tornado warnings more than three years ago... Just imagine if a toronado's actually landed and hit the downtown core, its pretty much impossible but that would be pretty messed up.

A few months ago Mr. West made comments that he was going to quit rapping in favor to focus on becoming a fashion intern with the highly successful designer Louis Vuitton but after dropping many new tracks since that statement I guess he has gave the intern idea up and instead just made a collabo. Thank God he didn't decide to become a fashion intern because I think I would of deleted every Kanye West track off my music library. Michael Jackson was born August 29, 1958, born in Gary, Indiana and was the 7th child in a family of 9. He began his musical career at the age of 5 as the lead singer of the Jackson Five; a group created by Michael’s father, Joseph Jackson. The Jackson Five was eventually signed by Berry Gordy in 1968 to the legendary Motown Records. At the age of 11 Michael and the Jackson Five dropped their first single, “I Want You Back,” which in January of 1970 hit number 1 on the Billboard hot 100 chart. “I’ll Be There,” “The Love You Save,” and the historic track “ABC” quickly followed and sequentially topped the charts.

At the very young age of 13 Mike began writing history by launching his solo career but in addition to his work with the Jackson Five. In 1975 due to the Jackson’s wanting more control over their recordings relations with Motown Records eventually broke down which lead to the Jackson’s signing a record deal with Epic Records. With the help of a producer named Quincy Jones in 1979 Mike’s solo album “Off The Wall” began Mike’s super successful and truly extraordinary career.

In 1982 Michael released the best-selling album of all time, “Thriller,” which was followed by “Bad” in 1987, “Dangerous” in 1991, “HIStory” in 1995, and “Invincible” in 2001. We should all have some sort of knowledge about how successful his albums truly were but if not this stat should help; over 750 million albums sold worldwide. Throughout his career Michael complimented his successful albums by creating ground changing and influential music videos such as “Billie Jean,” Beat It,” “Black or White,” “Scream” and the unforgettable, “Thriller.”

Mike’s live performances were also globally renowned; filled with flashy outfits, raw emotion, and distinctively original dance moves which have influenced all genres of dance to this very day. In 1983 at Motown’s 25th Anniversary Mike literally stole the show by performing “Billie Jean” and the “Moonwalk” for the very first time. He was known for selling out stadiums around the globe and rocking crowds like no other. I personally remember when I was younger that every time I saw media coverage of Michael’s concert’s they would always show thousands of fans crying and fighting through the thickest of crowds just to see a glimpse of the King in person. No matter the country or city Mike was touring the fans always reacted to him the same.
In 1984 Time Magazine portrayed Mike “the hottest single phenomenon since Elvis Presley” and in 1990 he was declared the most globally popular artist in the business. He was globally crowned the King, recognized by all. Mostly due to becoming a global icon and his unique personal qualities Michael’s life was highly publicized which engrained him as a part of the pop culture. Michael’s work has influenced all genres of music and all sorts of artist, way too much for me to even begin to mention. He was adored by millions, no sorry billions and reached an amount of success that will more than likely never be reached again.

He should be remembered for as an artist who delivered unique music, technical dance moves, and extraordinary performances worldwide, not for the controversy that at times engulfed him. He is a hero to many; his ability to move crowds and touch the world through his music should never be forgotten.

PS. He was set to go back out on tour in London and I guarantee it was sold out... and he’d still kill it...

Now we can all say “I remember where I was when I found out Michael died.”

Vince was born right near Orlando in Daytona Beach. I have a strong feeling this should rejuvenate some sort of motivation for him to end his career with a bang. He's 32 and I'm saying he has at least 2-3 more solid seasons. The Orlando Magic did Rafer dirty though...smh.

I seriously don't understand why Kobe was always criticized on not winning a ring without Shaq. Mr. O'neal has a good strategy, simply ride around with the league's best and coast to a championship. This Cavs acquisition is one that will most likely see me drift further and further away from that team. I hope Lebron pulls a fast one and leaves before they even play one minute together on the hardwood. Come on Shaq... how am I supposed to put you in my top 10 after this desperation move?

The concept art for the new Alice in Wonderland is completely bananas; filled with vibrant colors and detailed imagery, these pictures add a true sence of strange. Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland which will be in 3d, is set to hit theatres March 5, 2010. The filim will be featuring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen. co-starring Michael Sheen, Mia Wasikowska, Matt Lucas, Crispin Glover, Stephen Fry and Alan Rickman. Tim Burtons edition is writtien to be almost like a sequel to the original story:

You're seeing such a wide variety of people at Bana and yet at the same time you end up seeing every single familiar face you have ever known. I'm low key though and I never really focused on getting acquainted with a wide variety of people I don't have anything in common with and don't really need to know at the end of the day. Don't get me wrong networking is key in this day and age but not when it comes to casual acquaintances. I simply don't need to be hugging this girl and that girl, every five steps I take... cause at the end of the day it's all about the prime rib over the fish bones.

Scam of the Century?

In what many call the Scam of the Century, Bernie Madoff, a once highly respected man in the finance community confessed to misleading his investors and in the process cheating them out of an estimated $50 billion. To put his operation in perspective, Madoff managed to wipe out around the same amount of capital for his investors as the Enron mega-scandal that so many of us are aware of. What's more, he managed to go largely undetected by financial regulators for decades presenting himself as a pillar in his community by "lending his investment expertise" to various charitable foundations and initiatives.

Madoff used a method called a Ponzi Scheme in which investors are paid with the incoming cash that new investors contribute. His variation was slightly more involved but the same basic concept holds true.

There is really much to be said about the kind of man that can knowingly cheat individuals out of their hard earned money. To take it even further one can also question the type of society that indirectly encourages this type of behaviour. Recently the trend of financial scandals added the whole mortgage mess has done a lot to throw a wrench in the credibility of the financial system. The performance based culture we all live may be in some ways partially responsible, from CEOs playing with accounting records to meet profit targets to professional athletes using performance enhancing drugs to get or maintain an edge, the fact is that we as a society venerate winners and discard losers. This in no way attempts to find an excuse for Madoff's reprehensible actions but rather attempts to find an ounce of cause for what I to refer to as a crisis in credibility we as a society face. Sparing a more in-depth analysis I would just say although his untruthful ways are much to blame for what he did there were also other societal factors that also did their part too.

As I prepare to enter into the corporate world I hope that my ambition does not lead me into the situations similar to the ones mentioned. I have always admired individuals who count on their own hard work to propel them forward and in my experience such accomplishments are always sweeter victories.

Tonight the MuchMusic Video Awards will be shutting down the corner of Toronto's Queen and John, airing live at 9 p.m. ET and MuchMusic will try to offer their audience an experience to remember; whether it's by attending the show in person, watching it at home in comfort on a television, or on a computer, or even on the go by using your mobile phone.

This year's big surprise was the announcement of adding pop starts "The Jonans Brother's" as co-host to the show; the move demonstrates serious growth as this will be the MMVA's first celebrate co-hosting.

The 2009 MMVA's include performances by American Idol Star Kelly Clarkson, Queen of Strange electro pop star Lady Gaga, the very successful Black Eyed Peas, MMVA studs Billy Talent, Alexisonfire, Canadian rapper Classified, and Shiloh. Celebrity presenters include "Twilight's" stars Taylor Lautner and Rachelle Lefevre, gossip blogger Perez Hilton, "The Hills'" Audrina Patridge, Rumer Willis and the very sexy Kim Kardashian.

Super band Nickeback and Torontonian R&B sensation Danny Fernandez both lead nominations with five each but closely followed by Vancouver pop band Marianas Trench who has respectable four nominations.

The 2009 MuchMusic Video Awards will kick off with the Red carpet Special which will be airing live at 8 p.m. ET, the whole show is taking place at MuchMusic's Queen Street West headquarters in downtown Toronto.

With my anticipation of KiD CuDi's first album dropping getting higher and higher each day (no pun intended), it reminded me of the elements at the core of Pharcyde's, "Humboldt Beginnings". Our first post title was inspired from the name of the album. Humboldt Beginning's is not my favourite Pharcyde album, but it most definitely is one of my favourite albums to listen to after getting elevated from that Mary Jane. Your senses are increased significantly, your whole mood and state create the perfect combination for listening to music on a completely different level than just casual vibin' out.

I'm convinced that certain music just sounds better when you're intoxicated and I'm sure many share my stance. However, I'm not too sure if you have taken in some of the unconventional tracks that were primarily made for you to listen to when in this state. I'm going to suggest Cee Lo's, "Bass Head Jazz" (click to listen), as my first invitation to experience a completely different world of elevation. This is absolutely the perfect track to listen to when you're getting home, not ready to go to sleep yet, and want to take in some relaxation music to set the mood for your slumber.

Some of the newer generation of artists also provide us with tracks that create a different vibe-out setting. A track that was listened to almost every time MITC members rolled out to the gas station to get a cigar last summer was Big Sean - "Smoke & Drive" ft. Mike Posner. This is a good track for building up to construct the element of anticipation before actually blazin'. Once you're ready for the next stage, KiD CuDi's, "Rollin'" track is more than necessary for your car ride.

Let's get back to what this post was about though. After listening to some of the newer generation of music that is dedicated to help heighten and amplify your Mary Jane experience, I went back to the roots of these types of tracks. The artists obviously need some inspiration sometimes too, and I'm sure that is why they end up dedicating entire tracks and sometimes albums to the Maui Wowie. A track DEFINITELY worth a listen if you're going to listen to anything I posted is, Pharcyde's, "Mixedgreens" (click to listen), from the Humboldt Beginnings album. It ranks in my top five tracks to listen to (along with Bass Head Jazz) when vibin' out after a late night session.

This album is not my favourite as I said before, but it definitely put them back on the scene back in '04 and is a great album for Pharcyde fans since the Labcabincalifornia album.

One of my favourite tracks of all time for sure! It has nothing to do with Mary Jane, but is an essential Pharcyde track.

When I take the time to lay back and think my mind often wanders. Now that I am 20 leaning towards 21 and maturing into an adult, an occurring topic of late has been the question of my future.

What is it that I truly want for my future?

Where do I want to be in 5 years?

Should I continue to play it safe by going down the standard path; completing University and then hope to attain an entry level position within the field I studied?

Will I be content with working a 9 to 5 making a salary which is only satisfactory, knowing opportunity for progression isn’t great?

Am I going to be comfortable working in a position which I will lack passion for, solely used as a source of revenue?

Or do I want more for myself?

On Wednesday, May, 13th 2009 I was struck with inspiration and answered a few of those questions...

It was Drake’s “So Far Gone” mixtape tour concert and there I was standing in the center of a packed crowd accompanied by a few of my closest friends with a blunt in hand eagerly awaiting Drake’s arrival to the stage. Just before boredom set in the stage lights brightened, and boom, the beat for his track “Congratulations” dropped. As Drake walked out on stage with a grin from ear to ear, began performing his opening track turning the crowd into a mania, we lit up the blunt and set the mood for the night. While the concert preceded the blend of being “high” from recently smoking and watching one of my favourite artist perform my favourite songs completely focused me. Actually it drifted me away; away from his turbulent fans, away from my friends, away into my own realm. I stood there with full respect watching this young man that choose not to follow the standard path, who refused to play it safe; watching this young man that aimed for more instead of the ordinary, who followed his passion instead of just satisfaction. The thought alone changed me; lit a wick that was buried deep inside of me. The whole event inspired me; I witnessed and recognized a real success story which was composed in my own home city. It hit me.

That night when I got home I hopped in my bed slapped on “Closer” by Goapele, the therapeutic melody and her temperate vocals let me clear my thoughts as my mind swiftly wander off... I asked myself again:

What is it that I truly want for my future?

This time when I thought about it there was a fire dwelling in my hollows. There was a self-belief burning inside me, telling me to follow my passion to reach for my dreams. It was right there and then I decided that I wanted more for myself than just a job than a just a career. Seeing one of my cities own master his passion and then reach to his dreams has honestly inspired me.
What I now want for myself is to follow not a set path but to create my own path, to create my own destiny, to create my own role in this complex world. I will follow my passion and my dreams, my passion for success, my dream to write, and my will to always enjoy life. Yes I’ll complete University and receive a good education but not so I can attain that ordinary job but to equip myself with the tools I will need to design my own unique future. I strongly believe in my abilities and talents; that with dedication, passion, and plenty of practice I will develop my own unique skill that will lead me towards my path to success.

I can't lie.. they actually saved this campaign with their final commercial from the series or they might continue it (but I'm a Kobe fan so you might not think the same).

It obviously would have been a lot better if the showdown they assumed was going to happen actually happened. Nevertheless, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would turn out with Lebron getting eliminated a couple days after they launched this campaign... some good comic relief for sure.

95 000+ ppl showing up to the Lakers Championship Celebration was just amazing. This is going to be the last sports related post for a while. Unless the Raptor's make yet another horrible draft pick and draft a random player from Uzbekistan.

P.s. Big ups to Montell Jordan on the track, by the time Dwight Howard retires he will look like a carbon copy of Montell.
